#1
Willkommen,

(And no, I did not magically learned German in a few hours, credits and thanks to lunatic :) )

Was ja löblich ist.

One can also ask several questions from different perspectives.

Would the game be more enjoyable if a 2D revamp happened with a talented artist?

Would the game be more faithful to its predecessor in mood and spirit?

Considering you have bought it at a certain price, if the game had polished 3D graphics, at full content and with lavish 2D images for events&interiors, how much would it worth to you as an Arkania game?

Are you annoyed and dizzy with fidgety NPCs in shops and unremarkable interiors?

Do I care enough for this game or for its title?

Would it be possible to come to an agreement on 2D revamp with development team along mutual guarentees and pledges?

Is it feasible to implement 2D images in the game?

etc etc

Conclusion: After asking several questions to ourselves and others...debating and brainstorming I think we can answer whether 2D is good for the future of game or not? And as an idea (crowd-funding aside) does it have enough support? In brief, would you want it? After all this is a poll and not a pledge for a Kickstarter project. It is the additional value due to your appraisal of the game with 2D enhancements.

If i want 2D then i can play the Original.

The same with the Threads about the "Non Player Charakters".
This game should be a new Game with the technics and know how of the 21. Centurie.

I take it how it is. and don´t need something like 2D.

sorry for my bad english and for posting my very own opinion

thanks anyway for the chance to show it

Well 2D is still within the valid techniques of 21th century. Otherwise they would not rebuild King of Dragon Pass for iOS. And there are games which used 2D and 3D in a beautiful harmony. Like rendering 3D characters upon 2D backgrounds was a good practice at some point.

Due to this idea you would still be roaming the towns and dungeons in 3D, make your battles in 3D. But 3D is really unnecessary for interiors of shops, temples, inns and currently there are no pictures for events either. The current intro along voiceover is not very bright. For example instead showing rocks, lifeless houses and some orks....a good alternative would be showing charcoal drawings which depicts great battles of Hyggelik with subtitles and good music. And if necessary with a new voiceover. By 2D images we refer partly to those kind of improvements.

It would be quite costly to change the interior of each temple in 3D and making it at a good quality. Decently drawn 12 pictures would be cheaper then that. I always loved 3D exteriors, but inside they are mediocre if you are static, especially in a game like Arkania where you just enter a building and do some functional things or get text encounters. 3D is just a moodkiller in that case.

@ugralitan

thank you very much for your statement.
after reading your text i know the difference. My opinion can be like the upper writemeant because i have left this game and look hopefully
for the next version called Sternenschweif.

I don´t thing that the developers will very long work on this game. and not sure that it get free for modding.

sometimes we should love that we have and don´t dream for a better world.

oMG should go sleep. english is getting bad. sorry.

And if we ,as roleplaying gamers, don't dream, who will? :)

Ich will vernünftig (möglichst bugfrei :D ) spielen. ;)

Now I am curious about the benefactor who voted for 250 Euro! Feeling adventurous, I up my ante to 80.

Edit: Also for those vote on 0 Euro, if they express their thoughts on the issue it would be quite helpful. After all we are all customers here and it would be good to share our thoughts and ideas. Such as do you think the game is doomed? Or you would like to have 2D images in the game but rather not pay for such a modding/patching attempt? Or do you dislike 2D idea for certain cases and if so what would be better and cost effective? Or do you believe it is already your right since you bought the game and that the developers should add this? (Examples goes on.)

This way we can reach to a higher level of understanding on wants and desires of the community.

I can live with the 3D pictures, but I would prefer nice 2D pictures in the known DSA style.
So I decided that 20€ would be an investment that is acceptable for me - the steam game I bought will then be the price of a full blown PC game.

#16

I decided for 2 Euro since I'm simply not after graphics, but I'd donate my small part for the people who'd like them to be implemented non the less.
I agree that acquiring a talented artist and having a good bunch of images can find use in future games as well. After all, that way they would be more concentrated on the content and mechanics of the game, since they have quality pictures. But they should do it for the Blade of Destiny not copy paste from Star Trail retroactively.

For example, currently I play the game with the eye of a tester to find bugs and with the eye of a writer to write encounters which may get implemented at some point. Despite I have played all the trilogy, the Blade of Destiny has a different place within my memories and I like it more then the other two. The first game has a massive landmass and more potential then others because it has access to SEAS! In the original it was a pity they left so many towns contentless and barren. Riva was good but it lacked the charm of traveling on a map. And I do not intend to proceed to any spawn of Star Trail till I play a good Blade of Destiny.

From the perspective of profits, they could do better to pump content into the first game, implement 2D images and perhaps add more variety in music tracks to accompany events. Because there is so much to gain from solidifying this game rather then leaving it in mediocrity in promise of a new project. After all what you do today is the guarentee of what you will do tomorrow. :)

Good day,

From the current results it seems like approximately 1/3 of the community seems like unsupporting (at least) monetarily to 2D image implementation.

Rest 2/3 is supportive in varying degrees, most of the results are concentrated around 5-10 Euro and then it increases due to individual contributions.

The total current claimed donation: 587 Euro + 72 USD (I subtracted 100 USD at English Forums because that was me since I voted primarily here)

Euro(total-conversion): 639 Euro
USD(total-conversion): 882 USD

Total participants(so far): 40 (34 from German forums, 6 from English forums, myself subtracted from English count)

Overally the results looks rather promising.

An artist who will work at a normal rate can provide enough graphic images to fill temples, shops, inns and taverns. Unless I have misconceptions about 2D artists, heh.

I believe we have achieved the saturation point at the poll voting over a decent amount of time. Hence I am closing the poll. The results show that 2D idea has been well-received by the majority of the community at varying degrees of support. I thank you all for your participation!
