Huge is a matter of perspective. The really sever things mentioned there like savegame deletion will be ironed out by tuesday, other things will become fixed in the coming days and weeks. Some spells were removed, the haggling and vehicle skills are definitely still there, just that haggling wandered into persuasion, and some of the removed spells just didn't have any use over all three parts of the original game anyways. We are very moddable with the game (which of course nobody mentions), the character images you can choose from are awesome, you can even easily get your very own images (even photos) into the game by modding it ever so slightly, and there is a superdedicated team behind this socalled "terrible" game. But why talk about positive, nobody cares about that anyways ;).

I'd say we should wait and see what happens on release or better yet a week or two later. I read about spells and skills which found no use in the original blade of destiny getting featured with new functionality on a fan forum, so I'd say that maybe only a very few got removed.

Chef is German for boss, and even if it wouldn't be, a simply typo of a lacking 'i' should hardly reflect on the skill of a person in a not related subject. Please stay clam and cut the developers some slack.

Edit: I'm posting too slow, it seems ;)

Can I create my own dungeons? Classes? Events? Spells? Items?
What level of coding is needed therefore?

Simple as edition excel or text files?

If it is easily moddable i have hope...

#12
Ikazuchi I think even I could modify classes and items right away, since they base around XML.
Events and spells, I'm not actually sure and with Dungeons I'd wait for the Steam Workshop.

Ryan I doubt that you'd need to wait that long.

#13
Ok items and classes is nice for starters.

Now if you can make your own quests and maybe extend the worldmap...
Even if the game condition is crap now it would have a huge potential.

#14
Ryan, let me make a bold Statement: Check back in 6 weeks and tell me personally what you think. If you still think then that you'll need to wait another 4 1/2 Months, I'd be really surprised ;).

We had an extensive Beta and thought that most of the Problems were ironed out. Most "terrible Bugs that make the game unplayable" are actually not that hard to fix, but can be very annoying and make the game seem "literally unplayable". Just give us a little time, we are working day and night to get the game into a really satisfying state for you and us both (which currently isn't the case, definitely). And I'm just certain that you will find this game really is not only far from alpha, but a real gem and fun and immersive to play.
I normally don't get involved in these kinds of debates, and sorry if I sound like a fangirl, but...

Give the devs a break! If you don't have anything nice (or at least constructive) to say, don't say anything at all! You're not helping anyone or fixing anything. For anyone that's designed games, retextured, worked with creation kit software, modeled, rigged, uvmapped...making a game is hard work. A *lot* of hard work...more time consuming than you can imagine. They've put a lot of heart into the remake of this game, and they did it for the fans. If something doesn't work, there's a place to say it, but harshness doesn't make the process faster or more effective.

I'm just thankful I'm not the only fan of this classic game out there, and I'm thankful there are people that wanted to put enough time and money forward to remake it for me to enjoy. And I'm confident that once the bugs are ironed out, it'll be pretty solid.

So thanks, Crafty Studios. Thanks for all your hard work and stress and the (probably) thousands of hours you've put into this. I'm thrilled to enjoy the fruit of your hard work. ^.^
I don't want to argue against you, but there have been several cases recently where games were released with bugs that were never fixed
or people pre-ordered games and got access to the beta as "reward" and now are playing the beta with just 2 bug fixes in 1 year.

I got both problems and I do not want to risk any money again, when they finish the game i will gladly buy it on gog, but I will not make any bets.

I think we all agree, that we want it fixed.

But there are already several game mechanical changes which are not according to the rule books of the 3rd edition of the dark eye ruleset. *point at magic users*

From what I read across the german and english forum the game is now not according to the P&P rules and also different from the original DOS games from rule POV -.-

If seems to be a mix of the dark eye 3 and 4 P&P rules, some old blade of destiny rules and some other new stuff.

I do not have the game myself, just reading.

So I know the transversalis (teleportation) spell which was maybe a bit cheating in the old game is removed.
in the old game mages were able to transform skill points into magic points to have more MP later for casting, also removed.
Magic school of "Movement" was dissolved into the other schools.
Every magic user can improve his spells by 2 points per level, in original it is 1-3 depending on spell origin, i.e. a mage learning an elf spell is slower, a mage (battle school) learning a battle spell is faster

Elves (I do not know the name of the elfish races in the english version so please take my apology) can only wear leather helmets,

i know that some elves (river elves?) were able to wear metal helmets before, but this is removed.
But as replacements they can use iron TOWER shields?!?

Mage Staff enchantments are also not in the game yet.

Enemy graphics in battles seem to be random, i.e. a dog looking like a human skeleton.

in the battle screen the background is sometimes picked randomly, i.e. fight in a ice covered field, while you are exploring a dragon cave?!?

character portrait changed after character creation and can not be restored in the moment.

meeting quest NPCs for collecting the map BEFORE getting the quest from the Hetman in Thorwal.

Money display in shops CAN be wrong for the first few shoppings always displaying 999 D

And this is just what comes to my mind in the moment, i did not include the game crashing blue screens some people are reporting.
Some people are not able to fight at all, because for them all fights cause crashes (maybe a character model causes it)

#27
I hope they learn heir lessons from this stress and try a different finance/development model next time.

How about making part 2 Startrail a DLC for this game?
releasing it piece by piece, extending it to a biiiig game.

Like beeing able to walk from Thorwal to Lowangen?
And after finishing the old 3 parts, extending further until they cover "the whole world".
Taking a few euros for every step they take for whick I would gladly pay.

One major step could be "random quests" and "random dungeons" so it becomes like an open world title. *dream*

#29
They are not sticking to the original 1:1 anyway.

So why not "remake" the games into one game and proceed from there?
With today tech, DLC+AddOn experience...
This should really not be a problem.

Of course it would be big, but big projects can bring big money.

haha... damned, above idea is my dream since i played blade of destiny and star trail...
