Maybe they should have made the name "bashing weapons" this would have been more acceptable imo.

But the designation of cutlass in that category is anyhow correct.
swords itself are a VERY specialized category.
Like fencing weapons.

Axes and Maces / Bashing weapons are in general more simple and easy to use weapons.
In the recent version of the P&P game they are also a very discounted talent class, XP point view.

I think "bludgeoning" or "blunt" weapons would be a better translation, wouldn't it?

But a cutlass is not blunt
Or at least it shouldn't if the bearer cares
